Mary Housman Permann writes children's books and poetry. She grew up on a farm in Burlington, Iowa, and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she received a degree in English Education. Mary currently lives in beautiful Grimes, Iowa, with her husband Michael and two cats, Maxwell and Morris.
Her debut children's book, Quilly, follows a young porcupine and his animal scout friends on a journey of courage and self-discovery. Mary hopes her stories inspire young readers to see the gifts in themselves and in others.
